Question adding coolant.... any special technique u use?

I know you gotta use the bleed screws but every time i do, my car runs hot and it takes about a week or two for it to settle down? whats up with my car and why do i seem to always add coolant (virtually never leaks) Thanks

Re: adding coolant.... any special technique u use?

What I usually do when adding coolant is to remove the thermostat cover and thermostat and carefully pour coolant down into the area where the thermostat was, making sure you do not spill any on the opti. Then replace the thermostat and cover. What this does is allows coolant to warm up and open the thermostat. When you do not have coolant in the engine, there is no fluid to open the thermostat. So you car will overheat untill you can get the thermostat open.

i just follow what it says in the driver's manual. I can never get the top screw to bleed, maybe its too high, but if the car is running and hot and the rad cover is off, the air bubbles out quite nicely.
