afjusting rockers / idle
welkl i have everything hooked up, the pump and cooling works great, but well lets start from beginning. car starts up cold fine, revs near 1000 adn runs fine till about 160 degrees, i only got two rockers done in that time spand. but now i cant get it to start. well it starts but it ownt idle. i can hold the peddle down and it revs and backfires some but i think that is due to the rockers. how else can i do the adjustment? i only have a 224/230 so i shouldnt have to bore anything out or open the throttle blades. i also cant adjust the thing with the car off cauise i cant tell which rockers are at the base of there lobes. any help would be appreciated, on top of that oil spews everywhere and it starts smoking so i cant get the stuff adjusted.

Re: afjusting rockers / idle
Have someone sit in the seat and keep it running.
Put rags over the pushrod end of the rocker's. It will still smoke if it get's on the exhaust.
Go to Shoebox's site and look for the procedure.

Yea but it's a PITA.
Remove all plugs and go the firing order and stick your finger in the hole and listen for woooosh, keep turning until it stops. Back off adjuster and spin push rod and tighten until there is a LITTLE drag on the spinning and pull down 1/4 turn.Hand turn to next cyl and do it 7 more times.
Ya could put a fan under the hood to blow out the smoke.
Go to Shoebox's site for a better explanation.

Do it very softly as not to pass up the cyl ya want.
Drivers side=E-I-I-EE-I-I-E
Same on the other side.Look at your exhaust and all in front of the port are ex and the rest are intake.
