AFR 190s or Ported LT1 heads for 383 / part-time N20 engine
Will there be any difference/advantage to having a stock AFR 190 head versus a ported LT1? The price will be a bit more expensive for the AFRs without the porting... but is it worth it?

AFR 190s - $1800
Ported LT1 - $1300 + $110 shipping (both ways) + cores $235 = $1645
Difference is $160 +/-
I'm wondering about the flow with stock 190s and ported LT1s. The thicker deck is a plus with the AFRs and N2O... but guys are shooting 200 HP N2O without problems...

its $1200 or so for a complete P&P, decking and valve job with springs and rockers and such.
I honestly think a ported set of Lt1 heads (ported propperly) will outperform a cast set of ARF190s with no work done to them. the AFR's obvoiusly have a **** ton more potential.
I went with combination motorsports STAGE II LT1 heads.

I will probobly be upgrading to some ported AFR's. using cast AFRs is a bad idea IMHO.

Thanks for the input guys! My quote from Lloyd was $1300. I will need a set of heads and there is a shop in Long Beach who will sell them for about $235-$250 a pair. But to ship them to Texas will cost about $110 round trip from So Cal. That's how I got the numbers. So, the difference is a couple of hundred bucks but with more potential...
However, to port the AFRs plus shipping plus goodies will also bring up the price. I'm now leaning towards keeping the stock LT1 head idea and moving forward. AFRs are nice but since it will be N2O and not boost from a S/C, I think the stock heads will be fine.
