AFR heads on ebay
(Not disrespect to Victory Racing)
Im having Victory Racing build me a LT1 383 strocker motor for a ATI f1 blower, and I am looking for some heads and decided to look on ebay to see what I can find. I have found some and wanna see if these are the correct ones. Im aiming for 700+++rwhp, so Im going to need a very good pair of afrs or trick flows. I will probably buy a pair and have them ported to my needs. Im very unfamiliar when it comes to this stuff. Is there any heads that are out there that dont have to be ported etc? Take a look at the heads and tell me what you guys think. Also anyone selling a pair, pm me.

Re: AFR heads on ebay
There are plenty of good flowing heads out there. (LE, AFR, TFS), all of them don't have to be ported. However porting them will highly increase potential HP from them.
Lloyd Elliot is probably the biggest name in the industry today. Personally, I believe TFS will probably get you outstanding #'s as well and not cost as much. AFR is always top notch as well. As pretty much anything else out there, expect to pay high $ for an excellent set of top of the line ported heads.
I may be selling my fully ported (by TPIS) AFR 180's, but it won't be until next year sometime. I have been told that if you still plan on using the stock LT1 style intake (without getting reamed trying to find and buy an LT4 style intake) that the AFR 180's are as big as you can go.

Re: AFR heads on ebay
If you find AFR head that are offered (new) for significantly less money than AFR sells them for directly (you can download AFRs price list from their website) you MUST BE CAREFUL. All of the "magic" of AFR heads is in their CNC porting- that's how they get the very good out-of-the-box flow numbers.
PLEASE NOTE that AFR also sells their heads int heir as-cast configuration (no CNC porting) for less money. Some places have bought these unfinished casting, thrown a valve job on them and out the door they go. Chances are they won't flow anything like a full CNC ported AFR head.
If you're having full custom porting done anyway, that's probably not a bad way to go. However, if you're bolting them on out of the box you're probably going to end up not making near as much power as you might expect.
In this case, as usual, you get what you pay for.

Re: AFR heads on ebay
Im planing on having the heads ported to my application. Does afr sell heads that are bare with nothing, and if so can I have them CNc'd or is that something that cant be done?

Re: AFR heads on ebay
Just be aware of one thing.
Any ARF heads over 220 use off set rockers and cost more money.
I have a car I'm putting together just for the track and I have the 220 ARF heads.
And I'm getting it running by the end of the year hell or high
water.
Just wanted to let you know
You can also call ARF up they are good people they can give you some help in selecting the right heads.

Re: AFR heads on ebay
I bet the as-cast head would come quicker becuase they don't have to wait in line to be put in a CNC machine- AFR's CNC machining capacity has always been the bottleneck getting their heads out the door quickly.
