Aftermarket throttle body?? Which one??
Ok guys I've got an Lt1 out of a 94 z28. I have a 700r transmission with the tv cable. Having a hard time finding a 93 throttle body to match the transmission i'm using so I'm going to buy an aftermarket performance products throttle body. (assuming it's as good quality as bbk) let me know if it isn't.
My engine has the emissions deleted with a different intake and headers. Basically stock. PP offers the 52mm or the 58mm throttle body.
What i'm not sure about its whether to go with the 52 or 58.
I know the 52mm would better fit my engine but in case I do some upgrades down the road would it be better to go with the 58mm now.
Would the 58mm be too big and hurt me right now.
Please help me because I'm hoping to order this thing tonight.
Thanks,

I used to run a professional products 58mm TB without any problems. After the H/C I had to drill the IAC hole mod for it to idle properly, but no biggie. It looks to be the exact same TB as the summit one...maybe one is rebadged from the other? It didn't stick unlike my first holley POS(even after rotating the spring an extra turn), and was great for the price.
I then moved to an AS&M 58mm TB. I would be lying if I said there was a noticable power increase(I wasnt expecting one), but it sure does look great! It does have a much smoother action to it, and has servicable parts in case it does get worn eventually. It is also billet instead of cast, so shines like chrome and is a real slick piece.
A 58mm will not hurt anything, even if a stock cube engine doesnt need the amount of air it can move. There will be a bit more tip-in from the bigger blades, but nothing bad. You will also have to port the intake opening, but that is easily done with a dremel.
If you plan stroking or forced induction in the future, get the 58mm.

Here are my experiences with the different throttle bodies. This is with an A4 transmission. I have had the 48mm, 52mm, 58mm and now the monoblade. From a drivability standpoint I have seen little difference that you cannot get used to right away.
Now some of it might have been with the higer stalls I have ran. 2400 stall with the 48 and 52mms and 3600 stall with the 58mm and monoblade. I kept the 58mm around just incase the monoblade turned out to be too much. It wasn't and I now have a buyer for the 58mm.
The reason for going to the monoblade was to keep the KPA or plenum pressure as close to atmospheric as I can at WOT.
