Definitely... I was hoping to see some of the other pics that are linked in these "Tall Valve cover threads" but almost all of them are now so old, the picture links are broken.
This sounds like the way to go so I will put it on and take some pictures. My engine is on an engine stand so I'll get some good picture angles.

Just ordered the Jegs 555-50104 Tall Smooth Valve covers. They should be here Thursday. Not exactly sure when the Zoop alternator riser bracket will be here. When it's all here, I'll take pic's.

Do you guys have a link to where you purchased the Zoops bracket?

Got the valve covers. I tried to mount them but, as is typical for me (3 steps forward, 1 step back), the 'bosses' for the centerbolts hit the sides of these fat *** Scorpion 1.7 rockers. I went to the hardware store, bought an arbor for a 1/4" drill and some cutting wheels. I went back to the house and measured the height of the rockers relative to the gasket rail of the heads and it looked like I'd need to take off about 2" of the boss tube. I took all the rockers off that head except the one pair on cylinder #1 so I could just 'trial and error' with one rocker setup.

Top view of the "Tall" Jegs aluminum valve covers...

Side view so you can see how tall they are...

Underside of the valve cover, uncut...

Underside of the valve cover, cut...

I got it perfect the first time so I cut the rest. I'll put everything back on tomorrow and post the pictures.

Well, it doesn't work. There's two issues...
  • With the Zoop bracket riser inplace, the Alternator can't pivot enough enough to allow the top Alternator bolt to move into place. The side of the alternator boss hits the side of the Zoop bracket and limits the 'swing' of the alternator.
  • Even if that didn't kill this as a 'bolt on', the backside of the alternator still hits the front of the valve cover.

Back to the drawing board ...

Damn, that sucks. I had higher hopes for the Zoop bracket.

I don't know how much of a limit I have on raising the Alt before it would touch the underside of the hood but I'm tempted to see exactly how much the bracket would have to be raised before the alternator would clear the valve cover. After that, I'll see what kind of interference would occur with the hood. It's a shame. The valve covers look cool!

Yeah. I started to but I thought I had a less expensive alternative. I may end up doing those after all.

Well, I bit the bullet and ordered the Canton's last night. Thanks for the link. That was the best price I'd came across...

Steve, do you have any pictures of the underside of the VC? I'm just wondering if I'll have to cut the Cantons bolt tubes like I did for the Jegs VC because of the width of the Scorpion Rocker arms...
