For all the high HP guys

How many of your high horsepower guys have trouble with the whole opti deal? Man I swear It seems like every 8-10k something goes wrong in the ignition system. I got codes 16 and 36 tonight with a new opti in it less than 10k ago. The car gets beat on quite often, Im also running a digital 6 box as well. You guys have the same problems?

Re: For all the high HP guys

I HAVE A MSD DIGITAL 6 ALSO. I'VE BURNED UP 2 OPTI UP IN LESS THAN 12K per opti. From what i've read high voltage ingnitions is to much voltage for the opti sensors.

Re: For all the high HP guys

This is what it is doing, I can let it sit there and idle for 30-45 mins, drive it just as far as I want to, go wide open throttle, but if I "bleep" it (punch it and let up), it goes crazy about 2 mins later. If I bleep it sitting still its fine, but when im rolling along bleep it in lets say 2nd is when it will go crazy. Is the engine coming up so fast its causing the Optical sensor to skip a tooth there fore throwing it out of whack?

Re: For all the high HP guys

I have owned my 94 since early 02....I am still on the same opti that was in the car when I bought it. I am also running the digital 6 & blaster coil. Now I am on my 3rd MSD box, but they are covered under warranty.

Re: For all the high HP guys

I wonder what goes wrong? Think the lil sensor cant keep up? And I wonder if the MSD opti uses a diff sensor?

Re: For all the high HP guys

I've never killed an opti; I'm only on my second one as I replaced the first at 109K miles when I rebuilt the engine. I'm presently at 148K miles. 593 rwhp, 598 lb-ft torque.
