Nah.... LT1 is good, good car.
Sorry to hear about your problem. Why don't you try to return the waterpump under warranty? If you even have warranty that is.
Things like that happen and I know it can be frustrating, but don't give up.

From 1993-1996 I had no problems at all with my car.
Then I started racing it.
There is nothing left stock on my car now except for the glass.
Everything else has been modified in some way.

I don't think that the waterpump has anything to do with the way the LT1 motor performs! It's not like you've blown it up twice. Of course if the waterpump goes pad the optispark is going to go too, because the waterpump leaks on the opti. So you've had to replace the waterpump once, maybe the second one you bought was faulty. I'm sure people have had faulty replacement parts with their LS1's. How many miles was one your first pump anyway? I've had to replace mine at 40,000 and haven't had a problem since and I'm at 69,000. You can do what you'd like, but the same thing could happen with an LS1. The LT1's are very good motors in my book!

I hear ya man, my starter went in December and I didn't really care since it was 10 years old, I'm on school and my buddy had the money for my starter, he owed me a 100 and thats all I needed for the new starter. It took him a month to pay me, then it took a week to get the starter. So at this point no car for a month. Put in the new starter, the car ran for about a week, then the power steering stops working. next it dumps out all the coolant. Kills my opti, car sat for a week, MTI did the new opti since I didn't have time for it. Right now its running alright, ses light comes on and off. Some thing to do with the knock sensor.

I've never had a minute's trouble with my LT1. The small block chevy is probably among the best engines ever built, by any manufacturer. Generally cheap to modify; everyone knows about them; can make fabulous horsepower; sound great!
Heck, I haven't driven anything but imports for more than 20 years, but when it came time to buy a "toy" I went back to the SBC. Gotta love 'em.
