Alternator Problems -fixed! SES LIGHT PROBLEMS NOW

EDIT - I FIXED THE ALTERNATOR PROBLEM NOW.. THANKS GUYS... THE WHOLE REASON I WAS DOIN PLUGS AND WIRES WAS THAT IT WAS IDLING ROUGH.... I THINK THAT THE REASON IT WAS NOW COME TO FIND IS THAT THE INTAKE ELBOW WAS RIPPED... DOES THAT SOUND RIGHT?

I removed my alternator to try to get a better look at the spark plugs and wires on the passenger side after I finished the drivers side last night. Well, I decided to turn in for the night, and wait till I could lift the engine to mess with it. I was putting the alternator back in place, and I was having trouble with getting it lined up. I finally got it all in place and as I was screwing in the final bolt (the top right hand one) The bracket that mounts the alternator to the car just broke. Into about three pieces right where the bolt was going through... I guess the threading was broken.

Any ideas what to do/ is this part replaceable? Has anyone had this happen before?

PLEASE HELP ME!

Marc

If all of the other bolts are seated good, and your alternator does it's job, you can probably get away with the three bolts for a while

That being said I'd say your only real option is to get another mountin bracket. Either from a junk yard or the dealer.

TN Autoparts can probably send you one...

Or these guys...

I have never done business with either, but they seem to specialize in Camaro/FB parts.

Good luck!

I did the same thing. Are you sure you were putting th bolt through the right way? I wasn't that's why mine broke. Anyway, as long as the other bolts are nice and tight, and the bellt is tight too, you'll be fine.

Thanks for the info guys! While I was waiting for your responses I tried to put it on without that bolt and it did great! Thanks! I also found why I think my car is idling low and pulling SES light too since I was in the area. I found out my intake elbow is cracked... Hmmm... Could that be the problem - pretty big crack...

Imll try to get a new one today...

Thanks

Marc
