Annoying Rattle

I've got a terrrible rattle coming from the rear, passenger side of my car. I can't figure out what it is. It sounds like the Lower Control Arm is lose (if you've ever had that problem)... but it's not.

It's not the Lower Control Arm, Shock, Spare Tire and Jack, or the Speaker next to rear, pass. seat (sounds like its coming from that area). I've checked everything on the interior. I don't know what else to check.

Any suggestions?

We had a similar noise (95 A4 T/A) - turned out to be worn tranny mount. We heard sound when making turns, got progressivey worse until we had it changed out.

I have a similar rattle, and it turned out to be the strut that holds the hatch open. I made a friend sit in the back seat and hold the strut and the rattle went away while he was holding it...

Check Motor mounts

I had the same sound coming from passenger side. I checked heat shield, shock mounts and nothing. I jacked teh car up and started to hit the exhaust pipe and traced the sound to a motor mount. Had a metal vibrating sound in the actual mount. I tightened it and sound was gone. Just worked lose from engine vibrations I guess.

Thanks guys.

I figured out what it was. I said before that it wasn't the lower control arm.... well, it was.

I guess when I looked under the car, I just looked at the bolts to see if they had backed off. They were fine. I could have sworn that I grabbed the LCA and shook it to see if it rattled.. I guess I didn't. It's not the bolt though, it's the bushing. The front bushing has "wallowed" it's self out. I guess that's what I get for buying cheap-*** parts from Lakewood. I have only had them for about a year.

I always have a problem with the pass. side LCA. It's always coming loose. It's always the rear bolt, but this time it was the front.

Thanks again.
