This is actualy for a friend of mine. He has a 94 Caprice ex county cop car with 160,xxx miles on the stock LT1. He was driving it and when he went to slow down for a stop sign he got to about 10 mph and it started spitting and sputtering and then died. It hasnt ran since then. Here is everything I have checked. Put a new Opti on there. (had an extra one for my Z, just incase ) Checked all but 2 spark plugs and they all have a bright pretty blue spark. There is plenty of fuel and pressure, even pulled the rail with the injectors attached and watched each one pulse. Fuel pump makes the buzzing sound when turned on. Timing chain is not broke, and the dots are still lined up. (yes we even checked that, lol) The engine turns over with slight hesitation but it acts like it wants to hit once in a while. He had the car hooked up to a scan tool but there were not any trouble codes, and the guy said as far as he could tell all the sensors were fine. Are there any sensors that will not allow a car to start but give plenty of fuel and spark ? What about the ICM ? Is there an ignition fuse in his car like in our F-Body's ? I am at a loss trying to figure this out and normally I wouldn't post this here but he is stuck riding his Harley everywhere he goes now and it's starting to get cold out, not to mention it's been raining a lot lately. Any ideas or help will be greatly appreciated !!

 

Assuming the fuel and spark delivery are fine the only thing I can think of to suggest is the tps. I once forgot to plug back in my tps after doing something and the car started and ran, but it ran funny and died if I let my foot off the gas. If his won't even start though I might be way off.

Check the MAF is plugged in. Check compression. Seen broken cams before.
