Any word on the Delteq Stage 2?

I know a few months back they were delaying the release of the Stage II to work on some problems and it was supposed to hit the shelves shortly thereafter.

Searched but can't find anything on the anticipated release of the Stage II.

Anybody.....Maldo?

TIA

That's the one.....apparently there were a few things that needed working out so it was delayed but I thought the Stage II was supposed to be out by now. Haven't seen anything on Delteq's or Maldo's site. I was going to get the Stage I but seeing as it's so late in the season, I'll probably just hold out for the Stage II.

Stage 2 eliminates the opti completely whereas the Stage 1 is still using the optics from the opti.

if no one is having problems with the optical part of the opti, why bother to replace it?

same question here
i'm curious as to why stage 2 is needed (or preferred) since the optical part of the opti is fine

That way youcan do away with the opti eyesore. Also allow you a more universal camshaft position sensor, much smaller.

Red face Re: Any word on the Delteq Stage 2?

WTF are you guys on drugs or something?? Why on earth would you want to DELETE any part of the Optical Spark Distributor system? Its only the best thing GM has designed since the wheel..(or was that FORD? )...Ive only had three problems in three months with mine!

Re: Any word on the Delteq Stage 2?

There are alot of reasons to replace the opti-
1) Cap and rotor failure (eliminated when you have coil packs)
2) Hi res slot blinding from corosion
3) Bearing failure due to a small, cheap bearing
4) optical sensor failure (very rare)

Actually, there is a tech guide in the new CHP for the delteq. I'm pretty sure it's the stage 2 since your deleting the opti completely. I think i'm in love with it.

No, it is not the Stage 2 in Chevy High Performance. From the bottom of page 64:
The Opti-Direct system uses an electronic interface module, otherwise known as the Opti-Box. So, rather than relying on the cap and rotor to distribute the spark, the Opti-Box receives the signals directly from the Opti-Spark sensors and then sends the signals to drive the multi-coil system.
A couple of us have been running the Opti optical sensor alone, to drive aftermarket ECU's and 8-channel igintion systems since 1998 with no Opti-Spark failures.

My bad, I must have missed that part.
