Angry ? for anybody who has done a clutch job

I broke the clutch master/actuator cylinder on the car. I'm being told I put the clutch in backwards. Their are two sides, one is flat the other is raised off the clutch in the center. The factory one I took out says engine side on the raised side. The guy at SPEC told me thats correct and thats the way I put it in. A local mechanic is telling me that the stap on the factory clutch is on the wrong side. He says you ALWAYS put the flat side against the flywheel. Can someone please answer this for me. I do not want to tear everything apart AGAIN unless I know for a fact that I did it wrong. Thanks in advance

My old Centerforce was installed with the raised side to the flywheel as was my new LT4...

I recall the LT4 disc had an marking indicating which side went where as well

I'd believe SPEC and the factory over a single mechanic's generalized opinion of a clutch installation

I agree with the above statement. The SPECS are also marked
with "flywheel side'. Also keep in mind that these clutches are
a pull type not a push type.

Exactly right. Most clutches do have the "raised part" toward the transmission, but f-bodies use a pull-type pressure plate and a potted flywheel, meaning the raised part goes toward the engine.
