I would like to know as well. Can't decide between LPE's 3.5" aluminum or Spohn's 3" Extreme Duty DS.

A buddy of mine took the LPE 3-1/2" aluminum driveshaft to 750HP, in a blown, 383, M6 4,000# 30th SS Convert, before the shaft finally broke. He was never really sure whether the shaft broke first, or the rear u-joint failed, and took the DS out when it let go.

A guy i know is running one and has broken two input shafts, and an axle tube on a 12 bolt. THe LPE shaft is still holding strong. It surely wont be the first thing to go.

I see that the Spohn is 3" steel, and has 1350 u-joints front and back. The LPE is 3.5" aluminum. It doesn't say what u-joints are used. I think the Spohn seems stronger. What do you guys think?

The Spohn is probably stronger, but heavier. If you don't need the extra strength, get the aluminum.
