anyone got any header tips?

So I have a set of coated pacesetters LT's on my car, and they have been on my car for about 7,000 miles now. I started having a little leak, then it got huge. so I took my gasket off and the two outside ports where perfectly sealed, but my middle two ports where completely covered in black. So I got a set of fel-pros, and put one on, but still leaks, then I put the other fel-pro on it and doubled it up to see if it would fix the problem, no go. if I cut my gaskets and put one layer on the two outside ports and double it up in the middle would that work? I really just don't wanna pull my header off. . . . .

which side is it on? i heard that passenger side is a bitch to get to seal. also did you make sure the flange was flat before you put it on? older pacesetters were kind of crappy sometimes or so ive been told.

Try some copper gasket on a new gasket, install and let it dry and see if that works. If it doesn't, maybe need to resurface header?

I went to an exhaust shop and the guy told me that if you do that it makes the metal thinner, obviously, then it is more prone to warping.....that's what worries me, then i'll have to get new headers. It's on the drivers side though fortunatly....the passenger is completely fine!

I have copper gaskets on mine with no problem. Some people use the aluminum too. Your bolts staying tight?

Percys dead soft aluminum might do the trick, it forms to any irregular surfaces.

Do it right.
Pull them off and take them to a machine shop and have the flanges machined flat. If thy are as bad as you are describing then no gasket will go the distance. Next time use locking bolts too.
