Anyone here with a 383 and CC306?
Im gonna stick with my 306 since crane wants $360 to grind a cam for me =/. Just curious if you have a 383 and cc306 what your peak hp is at and what kind of heads you got if you dynoed it. Also what do you shift at? Im going to try and keep my shifting around 6200, I just don't wanna blow my new engine.
Anyone wanna guestimate my 1/4 times with a 383, cc306, ported heads and 3" exhaust + tune? .

I really think it depends on how well the heads were ported, how large the runners were ported to, and what the heads flow. The CC306 from what I understand makes power well above 6200....you shifting that low would IMO yield poor results. Why are you so worried about blowing this new engine, if it is built well you should have no problem spinning 6900-7000RPM's, as long as you have quality internals as well. There is another recent post I was reading a couple days agon, about someone running LE3 heads and the 306..maybe that would help. I just think there are alot more determining factors to this situation to start making guesses. Good luck tho.

Well, I think the powerband would still be as high depending on how well the heads were ported, runners were opened and how they flow. As long as your heads will support the High RPM's in a stroker you should still make power that high, and really shouldn't really bring it down. The power and RPM differences never seem to look that different w/ a 355 or a 383 LT1...the noticable difference would be in torque. A stock bottom end may not last forever twisting 6600, but a good strong, fresh bottom end should have no problem turning that RPM...unless you cheaped out on having it built.
