Check your coolant, maybe you have a leak and now it's low. That also would cause your heat problem. Also if you've done anything recently to your cooling system, make sure you get all the air out of the system.

i don't even know what a heater core looks like. i swear i'm not incompetent. i can do all basic maintainance, just never thought about heater cores before. where is it, whats it look like, how do i get it off to clean it? also where is the thermostat??

oh, yeah, i had to add some coolant cause it was low not too long ago. in the engine bay there was a warning that said a special procedure on how to take care of the cooling system can be found in the owners manual. unfortunately i don't have the manual. Does that have something to do with getting all the air out when putting in fluid?? if so, what is the proper service procedure for our cooling systems?

there is a pic of what the thermostat looks like and where it is located. just incase you cant tell its located under your air bellow and throttle body. and the heater core is located behind your glove box. its a pain in the a$$.
