Don't have a Caterpillar Tractor around here, we do have Tractor Supply Company though.

Check with a fitting dealer, parker and swagelok make fittings of that type. I use them all the time.

I'm thinking this setup would also be a lot easier if I had to pull and re-install the heads with the motor in....

When you get this sorted out post up some picks and info about where you purchased everything. I want to do this for my new engine.

Thanks

Re: Anyone replaced coolant crossover tube setup with AN fittings and hose??

I ended up finding a pair of 90* 1/2" threaded to hose fittings I found in some of my dad's stuff after I started talking about doing this. The guy at Autozone sold me 11/32" hose, but I'm pretty sure the factory hose fitting on the radiator that you'll be running to is 3/8".

Here's what I did on the back of the heads (driver side)-

I ran each hose individually from the back of the heads to the front of the motor using a pair of 11/32" insulated hose clamps. There are handy pre-tapped places for machine screws in between the injector bosses on your intake manifold (you can see in the picture where those are holding the clamps down) -

To finish it up, I went to the Home Depot and bought some brass fittings. I started off with a T fitting that had female thread fittings on it. Then I bought three male thread fittings to thread into the T, that had a 3/8" hose fitting on the other side (it was tight, but the 11/32" hose fit the 3/8" fitting). Two fittings are for the hoses coming from the heads, the last fitting goes to the radiator and hooks up to the factory crossover tube return. I used another pair of the 11/32" insulated clamps and screwed the T-fitting assembly to the fan shroud on the passenger side-

Re: Anyone replaced coolant crossover tube setup with AN fittings and hose??

Part #'s from that website 1racerdude listed are SS-6801 for the 90* and SS-6803 for the 'T'.

They cross referenced it on their site to Aeroquip. 2062 for the 90* and 203003 for the 'T'.

They never listed any thread sizes, this is just the general form (ie - 90 with thread and washer with o-ring on one side, AN on the other / T with thread, washer, oring on the correct side and AN on the other two legs)

Now I gotta go get my buddies Aeroquip catalog.

Re: Anyone replaced coolant crossover tube setup with AN fittings and hose??

This seems like a great idea.

So lets say we get a parts list of what is needed to make this all work.

SS-6801 for the 90* (cross reference Aeroquip. 2062 for the 90*)
SS-6803 for the 'T' (cross reference 203003 for the 'T')

Get the Earl's push lock hose...(Part #?)
JIC/AN swivel fittings to screw onto the fittings in the head... (Part #?)
Anything else I missed?

I'm guessing the Aeroquip numbers are just base numbers, you also have to start worrying about thread and AN sizes. Getting ahold of a catalog from your local speed shop is the best bet.

Re: Anyone replaced coolant crossover tube setup with AN fittings and hose??

Ohh...I thought when you posted the part numbers that they were the part number for the correct size and AN setup.

So based off of previous messages they are 1/2" straight cut (1/2" pipe thread has worked) to the head and 6 AN seems to be the preferred size.

That's all I've got. If you are confused about the routing of something I could help you out, it's all pretty simple really.

to me it seems like a great idea for someone who pulls their cylinder heads or do alot of work on the car. Otherwise I see no issues with the coolant x over tube.

Any info on the Earl's braided push lock hose that was mentioned earlier.

I can't seem to find a part number for a hose with that name.

Re: Anyone replaced coolant crossover tube setup with AN fittings and hose??

Resurrecting this thread again....
Will this setup work? Considering that the banjo bolt thread is .25X18.
I just don't understand why others have used 1/2" adaptors or am I missing something.

Driver side head. 6AN to 1/4" pipe

Hose ends

Tee for passagenger head. 6AN to 1/4" pipe

and 10 feet of 6AN hose.

What does everyone think?
