Anyone seen worse than this?
Whatcha guys think...
Stock 158k miles 95 Z28
Runs great, burns a bit of oil, pressure is very low on idle, but otherwise almost where it needs to be.

DAAAAAMN!!
The only other moter that I've seen that was worse was in my engine rebuilding class at school. But his didn't run. Or turn over cuz the bottom was even worse, you couldnt even get anything to drain out.

I just picked the car up.
We flushed it when we did that so hopefully it is a bit better now....
Lost alot of oil pressure after the flush though... so I need to decide to either rebuild, or pull the pan, change the pump and hope for the best.

when you flushed it where do you think all of that went? there is a good chance it is in the pan clogging the oil pick-up. at the minimum you need to pull the pan and clean the pan and pick-up. but with the motor looking like that i would just build the motor

When I used to work as an auto tech, I saw this happen several times on higher mileage engine and trannies that had neglected maintenance. It seems like the sludge kind of holds things together, once you flush the crap out, the problems really begin.

Yeah, I have a feeling it is going to cause many many problems.
My buddy wants me to yank the pan, swap pumps and pray.... but i'm thinking it wouldnt be worth the money with this many miles on the bottem end and the sludge that is in there.

no i dont think its worth it either, but FYI the pump is prolly not the problem its the pick-up
