Anyone smoggin' a stroker here in CA?
Just what the subject says.. Is anyone out there able to sneak a performance minded stroker motor here in CA with no problems? I am contemplating building one since my motor's bottom end just took a poop.
Any and all info is appreciated. Thank you for your time.

The motor is blown up, and it costs almost the same to build a stroker. I am not looking to go real fast, just a bit faster than I am going right now . I am currently running consistent 13.3s I wanna run 12.8s or so. If I wanted to go real fast I would get a REAL nasty rotating assembly and either spray it to hell or put a big blower on it. That way it would be REAL fast and still pass smog. I just want something a little quicker than stock but still will hold up to daily driving and not be a troublesome car to pass smog.
Btw, the 1st motor went bye bye at 215,000 miles.

You can pass smog with a stroker no problem, you just have to be kinda mild with your cam selection and retain all of the smog equipment.
I knew someone that passed with a 396, ported heads, and GM 846 cam in CA. GMHTP's car with a 396, ported heads, and CC305 passes the dyno test in NJ which is also very strict. In fact they said it passes with flying colors.
Be conservative with the cam and you won't have any problems. You should still be able to make at least 380 RWHP and pass.

Morgan Motorsports has done enough and I remember the first time I heard of someone doing a storker in a 4th gen I read it in car craft or super chevy (around '96) was from a place in GASP California.

Come on guys, both are right. Very fast cars are very very hard to smog due to the extreme head and cam combinations they usually run. Quick street cars can mean anything, depends on your definition. For me its a 12 second car. For you it could be 10s. Just depends on your opinion. All I am after is a car that would run 12s with my 3.55 gears on ET Streets. To me that is fast. I will leave being real fast to the cars that were built for it, like my dad's dragster

If all you want is your car in the 12's, it's very doable without stroking. Heads/cam or even just cammed lt1's are capable. There are many CA peeps running around with strokers, maybe they'll come in and speak on it.
