You don't delete the 'damper'
A piggyback pulley has the stock damper on with it..
An 'ASP' or the like[ I have an old[not made anymore] March one] has a 'damper' built into it.. so no you aren't eliminating the 'damper' [although when the 'piggyback' is incorrectly installed, many people have left off the stock damper.. now THAT's a no no ]

A little off topic, BUT....
If underdriven, you can still run just about any amplifier setups so long as you run a good capacitor or two. 1500w and 2 farads of capacitor in my Z, and never any charging issues. Hope it helps.
