autometer water temp gauge in trickflow heads
Been reading some of the posts on here about getting water temp gauges to work.
I have a 94' impala ss with the trickflow heads, and put the electric autometer temp sensor on the passenger side head like stock. The gauge has been reading hot all the time, like 250* without the fans or anything turning on, water not even boiling in reservoir. Replaced thermostat, made sure electric water pump was spinning well. Flushed and bled system.
Now I figured out today that I think the gauge is picking up temp off the headers and surrounding heat. I used an infrared temp gauge to shoot at the head, hoses, and thermostat housing, all read around 200* when the fans kicked on, while the gauge was reading 250*. I read about http://www.pegasusautoracing.com/pro...p?Product=1074
fitting the head, just not sure what size is needed. Also will this put the sensor far enough in the head so it does not pick up heat off the headers??
Thanks
