axel removal to replace wheel studs?
so today i took a look at the wheel studs i need to replace on my rear hub and it looks as if its not as simple as pounding out the old and throwing in the new. seems part of the tcs or abs is in my way to get the bad stud out and i'm guessing part of the axel needs to be slipped out to gain the necessary clearance? anyone have any info on this?

i dont know about on yours but on mine there is a toothed gear that sits just behind the hub and the studs...that's the piece that i cant seem to clear! did you have that issue?

sounds like he has a 4 channel abs car so there is a tone ring on each axle.
I'm not sure how to change them. I think you may be right though that you need to remove the c-clip, axle, then slide off the tone ring and eventually re-press it on. sorry i don't know more about this.

You have to pull the TCS reluctor ring gear off the axle in order to replace a wheel stud. You will have to pull the axle out and bring it into a shop to have the "toothed" gear taken off and pressed back on. Just a major hassle of having TCS.
