Bad power stearing pump??

I went in last week to get my car serviced and the told me that my power stearing pump was making a noise. I asked what kind and he said it sounded as if the bearings were rubbing up against each other. He told me you can hear it when you turn the car on but i can't hear it. Does anyone know what the signs are to a bad p/s pump? Also anyone know a good replacement?

this exact thing happen to me about a week ago and the dealer told me the noise was because the power steering pump was on its way out. wrong. it was becuase i turn alot of rpms when street racing the belt got glazed over and come to find out that when you rev real fast the the belt slips on the back of the power steering pump pully because there is very little contact betweent the belt and the ps pum, and it also rides on the back side of the belt. change your belt first. the noise could be a bad tension pully. that happen to me also the bearing went out in it.

just some food for thought.
