bad starter right?

I turn the key and nothing happens (all the lights and stuff go on fine, the batt is not bad) and out of 50 tries i get lucky, and it starts... this is a bad starter right? ( i know its not the key, or misconnection from the key hole, cuz when i put it on start some lights from the gauge go off as if i was starting it)

i tried like 100 times, and it wouldnt turn, and i tried one last time, and it started fine, revved fine, drove fine...

so starter right?

oh, and how hard is it to change it? i assume couple bolts and 1 or 2 connections? is it hard to get to, and do i gotta take other crap off to get to it?

edit: since it someones turns on with no problem, it can possibly be a bad connection (like bad ground) or something too right? i guess i'll check the connection before i change it, maybe it has a bad ground...?

You said what I was about to say at the end of your post. I would definetely check the connection before I changed the starter. But all in all it sounds like the starter to me! my .02
