bad vibration in steering wheel
My car has a bad vibration in the steering wheel when I'm driving. Tires are rotated, balanced, and front end aligned every 3 to 5K. Tires still good. Seems to do it more when I'm going straight. Not as bad when I turn the wheel slightly like in a curve. Also seems really bad between about 45-65. I've had a passenger in the car when it was happening and they commented on how bad the steering wheel vibrated. So I know its bad when a passenger can see it shaking. Any ideas?
Thanks.
Oh, 82,xxx on the car.

When was the last time the tires were balanced? An old weight could have fallen off. You could also have a tire begining to seperate. If i were you i would take it to a tire shop and have them balanced. Ask them to take a close look b/c you are getting a bad vibration.
You do not want a tire to blow out which will happen if it is separated. When they blow a lot of times they take the fender with them. It can do a lot of damage to the side of the car.
If its not in the tires next place i would look is wheel bearings.

sounds liek a wheel bearing especialy of it goes away when you turn the wheel and load that bearning. are there any noises?
if not that it sounds like a wheel/tire ballence issue.
you shouod also check you tie rod ends and ball joints. jack teh front up and grab the sides of the tire and move it back and forth and look for play. there should be NO movment in the tie rod ends and none to very very little in the ball joints

Thanks for the replies. I guess its been about 2 months since the last alignment, rotation, and balance. The thing with that is that even when I do get all that done, as soon as I get in the car it will drive like a dream up till 45-50 and then the vibration comes back from 50/55-60/65. I'll let the place that I take it to know I get a bad vibration around the mph and see what they say. I'll jack it up and see if I can notice anything. I dont hear any noise that is noticeable, however, every now and then the front right will make a clinking noise when I hit a whole. Thanks again for the replies.
