BBK, HOLLEY or machined

basicly I have a set of LE1 heads on the way with a le2 cam and the last thing i need is a throttle body. I was looking at ones that were machined out to 54mm. my question, is there any reason not to go with a machined unit? also would I see any gains from going with the 58mm over the 54mm with the above setup. thanks

It really depends on what you want and how much you want to spend. The Holley, IMO, is the best looking throttle body around, with exception to the AS&M throttle body. A drilled stock throttle body will suit you fine.

I went with the Holley.

Re: BBK, HOLLEY or machined

Well what I want to spend and what i end up spending never seems to be the same. heres what I dont want, I dont want to spend an extra 170 for the 58mm and only get 2-3 hp over the 54mm I dont even think 5hp would be worth it, I could put 170 into other things that would see a larger power increase. If I had the LE3 heads or even the le2 heads I would say ya im goin to need 58mm to feed them, but with le1 heads would it just be over kill? they will only flow so much air right?

Re: BBK, HOLLEY or machined

With LE1 heads, anything bigger than the 52mm is overkill. Stick with a 52, IMO.
