My 233/239 produced 348 RWHP on stock heads in an automatic.
I didn't rev it that high either.
It sounds mean and driveability is pretty good.

All three of those cams have been shown to work well on stock heads. The 224/230 is obviously the biggest, it's up to you.

I'm amazed by how much ya'll know. There is no definitive source for cam information though.... I guess it's just something you pick up. How do you know when you should upgrade other components too? (hardened pushrods, roller rockers, springs, etc)

If you're looking for a good balance of idle, driveability, and power, may I suggest the 218/224. Couple of guys putting mid 340's HP AND TQ to the ground with this and bolt on's, and it doesn't need to be revved to the moon. Flat TQ curve, good all around power, and if emissions are a concern this one would be no problem.

Numbers aren't everything. Those 11.9X times are on 1.6 short times, some of those cams run good HP numbers but are lacking on the TQ curve.

Just my $.02

Is the XE224/230 a Comp Cam? And what is the lobe seperation on it?

Yes, that is a comp cam. And the LSA is typically 112, but you can make it higher or lower depending on emmisions or gas milage.

I second the vote for the XE218/224

can I use 30,000 mile lifters?

For springs I went with CM612 from CMotorsports, single spring (no machining) good to .600, only $89.95 and 1.6 Non self-aligning pro mags from comp w/guide plates and new hardened pushrods.

As for lifters if yours look like they are in good shape there really is no need to get new ones with any of the cams mentioned.(mild cams)

I only read one post regarding the CC502, 218/224. That's the cam I'm going with. Produces good power and torque curve is more like a torque line. Road racing rules

I was thinking about going with the GM 847.

but the spring the cam card suggests is only good to .585 lift... not good if I were to run 1.6's.

how many people are running the CMotorsports spring? (looking for reliability.)

About 10rwhp from what I've seen. It's pretty much across the RPM range though, from about 2500 rpm and up.

I have the XE 224/230 on a 114 LSA. I think most people get it on a 112 LSA.

HotCam. Regardless of what you hear. The CC305 and the Hotcam are basically the same. You could drive 2 seperate cars and with all things being equal except the cam they would perform about the same. I say Hotcam cause you can get the whole kit cheap.
