Best headers
Hey guys. Have not been on here for a while. Just wondering what would be the best set of headers for a LT1? It used to be Hooker LTs, is it still the same? I had Edelbrocks before, they were good, but a bit too small for what I want to do soon. Ground clerance would be nice, so how about those RK Sport 1 3/4" shorties? Any others? Thanks.

The best around are going to be the hooker long tubes or Jet Hot longtubes, But ground clearance with these seem to be minimal. Might try out some BBK shorties. I have seen their quality and it is great and they still have 1 3/4 primaries!

Jet hot and Hooker long tubes are very similar, but IMO Jet Hot's have the advantage because they have a true "D" shaped exhaust port which aligns properly with an LT1 head.
The Hooker longtubes have an oval shaped port, and in relation to the port on the head, are too low. (the top of the port on a Hooker header may overhang the exhaust port).

Re: Best headers
Uh, gotta change that. . . Tpis backordered 2 months when I ordered so went with Mac mids to be able to get in and out of my driveway Long tubes would get smashed all to heck 'cause I'd scrape the cat if I didn't back in just perfect. My next house is going to have a very flat driveway. . .
Oh, yeah, the Macs weren't too hard to install. Pretty tight fit and had to get the Y-pipe cut, extended 3/8" where it crosses under pan to bolt up right. Also using copper gaskets and no leaks -- but woulda leaked bad if I didn't modify the Y-pipe. Kinda fun driving 10 miles to buddy's shop w/open headers! !Cat makes the Flowmaster 3-4x louder
