Best parts to build a 550 +hp Lt1 under 4k

Re: Best parts to build a 550 +hp Lt1 under 4k
Not sure what the attitude is for, but I don't see it happening. Guys that eclipse the 500whp mark do so with things like single plane manifolds, high dollar rotating assemblies, aftermarket PCMs like FAST and Megasquirt, very aggressive solid roller valvetrain and supporting components, high dollar converted SBC heads, elaborate fuel systems, and have a VERY high budget. My motor cost me close to 8k. A buddy of mine is building a 396 with a budget of 12k and he won't break the 500whp mark, either. If you don't believe me, do a search on this forum (and others) and they will all say the same thing. You don't have the budget.
I am not trying to put you down whatsoever, but I don't think you realize how unrealistic that number is. Unless you are prepared to spend some SERIOUS coin, it just won't happen. I have been around these engines for 11 years now and I can count the number of 500whp N/A LT1s I've seen on one hand.
Lose the attitude - you needed some info and I'm trying to help you out.

Engine is being built right now. Paying a little over 4k. Pretty much the top end will stay the same, but will need a new shortblock. Hoping for something in between 450 and 475 rwhp. I will keep you posted. Still dont know how to upload photos here. I will give out the mechanics phone number once the job is completed if anyone is interested. I will let you know how it run's once I get home next month.

By the way, obviously I didnt have 550 hp before, I thought I did but no. I went with what the previous owner told me and well it was not true. : ( Im new to high hp. never had much more than a few bolt ons on previous cars and especially my Suzuki SV 1000. I always thought the camaro wasnt as fast as it should be, since I know what fast is on a bike. I've gone 170 something on the bike, hard to look down when your going that fast. Just hoping for a fast car, that I can drive on the street.

What top end? Did I miss something? Good luck, 475rwhp doesn't just happen.

This is one of the BEST forums for tech advice but again, you choose to ignore it.

You can delete the thread.
You can also realize that you may be wrong here, and it might take a while to sink in, but no one here is being a bad guy. If you stay with the car hobby long enough and learn a few things about engines, and not just the superficial knowledge that the internet and movies can inspire, you'll eventually understand some of what people were trying to tell you here. I've been working on engines since about 1976, so when a guy with 35 years less experience than me tries to tell me something that I don't believe to be true, I may try to correct him on it.
