Thumbs up Big Plans Tomorrow!

ok here it goes. tom saturday and i got plans to work on my ride! first im going to do my thermostat. what tips should i look out for. also how much high-temp gasket maker do i put on it, just a little bit? do i smear it with my finger or just put it in there. i want to put the rtv on it just to make sure of no leaks. where do i exactly put the rtv? do i put it on the rubber o-ring gasket or the inner part of the thermo on the metal next to the rubber o ring? also how woudl i go about tightening the two bolts? i dont have a torque wrench that does lb/in? 89 is the spec i have lb/ft 1/2 inch drive torque wrench that wont work! also i plan to remove the silencer and do the tb bypass also. on the silencer, when i put a pert plus shampoo cap in place, do i tape it? how will it stay in there, is it tight enough to be with itself no tape? thanks guys i appreciate it! Oh also i forgot to add i will be fixing my low coolant sensor also so i will be draining some coolant to replace that also. and i have heard of people having leaks for not using the rtv so its not going to hurt me so ima do it anyways just in case. some people say it works fine with the rubber o ring some say they have leaks to be on the safe side im using the rtv! thanks!

No RTV. Thermostat should have a rubber seal and be fine.

I wouldn 't about a torque wrench for the thermostat housing. Just don't gorrilla it.
Drain some coolant or have plenty of rags for what comes out of the thermostat housing.
