Bigger throttle body on a bolt on car

First off, I did a search on this and it seems pretty split down the middle. Most of the threads are old as dinosaurs too.
So, I have a bolt-on car with an automatic trans that last ran 105 mph in the 1/4. The basics are headers/exhaust/CAI/1.6 rockers...... I am wondering if switching to a 52mm throttle body would be worth any gain at all. I consider 4-5 rwhp worth doing it.
Thanks,
Rob

I bolted on a 52mm bbk tb. At that time my car had a c.a.i., off road pipe in place of cat, hypertech tuning, and flowmaster replacment muffler. I only gained 1 mph through the traps and a about 1 tenth (e.t.) consistantly. The more bolt ons you have the more it will benefit your set up.

That is also what people said about an underdriven crank pulley, but it netted almost 1 full mph at the track. If it is worth 1/10th in the 1/4, why not?

The larger throttle body might net you a couple of extra horsepower. If that is worth the cost, then by all means. The money would probably be better spent elsewhere. Have you already done a PCM tune?

yeah, a stall (or gears) will do you more good than a TB, but it is one of the basic "support bolt ons" that youd want if you went FI or something like that

I've already done a converter and a MadZ28 chip . About all I have left is an electric water pump.

I say go for the TB, the gains may not be the most cost efftive early on but your near the end of the bolton phase Your next step up will be heads/cam and if/when you do go that route you'll already have the TB
