Black Box over driver side valve cover

Re: Black Box over driver side valve cover
To remove it, you have to replace your throttle and cruise control (if equiped) cables with cables for a non-traction control car. Then have the traction control programmed out in the PCM.

Yes, when I ordered my Camaro, I saw the "Traction Control" option. No way in h3ll I wanted that! My car has every option, EXCEPT traction control.

I remeber someone on here was buying new ABS control module things and he still couldnt get it to work. But if you still definetely have ABS, and simply replaced the cables and got a tune, then hell, thats awesome!

It is OBD1. That is a good point. I don't know if there is a difference between 1 and 2 concerning ABS. Hopefully Bryan will chime in and shed some light on this. I emailed him earlier and he replied with this. "The ABS is a separate computer from the PCM. So as long as it is still there the ABS functions normally."

I will email Byan and see if he does anything special. I don't see how it would that hard since when you turn off the TC with the switch, the ABS still works.

Re: Black Box over driver side valve cover
I just removed the cruise cable. (dont use it much anyways), I then took off the TCS box, and everythign connected to it. Then I put in the new throttle cable, and my ABS still works fine. (TCS off) is always on the dash though.
It cost me like 13.00, and now I can get the drivers side valve cover off in like 30 seconds. The engine bay looks alot cleaner.

Re: Black Box over driver side valve cover
Yeah, I did a little more research and OBD-1 cars and OBD-II cars have a COMPLETELY different ABS module, so the affect of removing the traction control is very different on the different ones. Would it be possible however, to simply make everything think that the TCS is still there, but it not be? Like remove it, but place some kind of resistor or something in there so the comp and everything thinks that its still there?
