Blowin Cooling Fan Fuse?

I have a 95 camaro with a newly installed LT1 swap. The engine is mostly stock, in terms of cooling, other than the 160 degree thermostat.

What to be causing my fans to blow? Its happened twice already in 3 months.

Re: Blowin Cooling Fan Fuse?

What do you mean fans "blow"? Like they stop working or the motor is burning up?

On my 94 the fans never worked correctly and would not turn on half the time. So I installed a manual fan switch. Solved the problem, now they turn on when ever I want.

sounds like you have a short in the fan circuit from the fan relay to the motor. check the fan wiring for shorts, or the motor itself could be internally shorting, but if it only happens sparingly, then i would look for that shorted wire. might have been misrouted when the engine was reinstalled.

Re: Blowin Cooling Fan Fuse?

sorry, I meant to say what could be causing my fuse to blow, not my fans to blow.

I agree with JBlaze. I thought I might have a bad ground somewhere. I just dont know where to look. Im going to carefully look around tomorrow morning and find the root of teh prob.

thanks for the advice.

Re: Blowin Cooling Fan Fuse?

A good place to start would be the wires coming from the coolant temp sensor on the water pump. Sometimes those wires can get burned and short out or whatever.

Mine however was thanks to the brilliant mechanic at the dealer. Hmmm I wonder how well wires conduct electricity when they are glued together....hmmm

the coolant temp sensor has no connection to the fan circuits so scratch that. the best place to look would be right in front of the fans. the wires to the fans run right up against the fan assembly in a black conduct loom. those wires get tossed around alot after a motor swap.
