Angry bolt sheered off in head

we were removing the manifolds and a bolt busted off in the head, some of it is still hanging out but it looks like it is corroded in there. what can i do to get it out? there is enough to grab with vice grips but it might just chew it off. i do not have $1,000 for new heads + install!

Depends on how much is sticking out, but Sears has several different kinds of tools for removing studs. I would soak it with PB Blaster for a while, first.

Welcome to my world! I have two broken off in my drivers side head. If you want to get it out easily, depending on which one it is and where it is located on the vehicle, you can just tap it to get it out. If not, just pull the head and take it a machine shop and they will be able to tap it and get it out for you. I understand your frustration though, my car has a raspy tick cuz of it and I have no $$ to pay someone to do it in a timely manner and no time to do it so save myself $$. But such is life. See if you can tap it. If not, then just take the head off and have it removed by a shop. Or you can just wait and see if anyone else has their .02 But last time I posted a thread like this, they all just said "Take off the head and tap it........" Good luck!

Take it to a muffler shop....what they will do is weld another bolt on to the broken stud and take it out. Saves time so that you don't have to yank the head. If you're in california contact these guys. http://www.brokentap.com/contact.html
