Bone Stock 94 formula mods
Hey guys, I've been a long time lurker on the forum. I just purchased a 94 formula with 177k on it from the original owner. This thing is bone stock doesnt even have intake or cat back yet. I'm looking to build a quick street strip car that runs 13's na and 11's on spray. I am looking for advice as i know getting where i want to get won't happen overnight but i want to make a good logical sequence of mods that will work together. Obviously in need some sort of cai and i plan on doing a catback first and then headers. I was thinking of doing 1.6 rr's as a start before doing a cam. Am I wasting my time with 177k on my valvesprings? Do you think I really have to tear this thing down to the shortblock to make it run strong? Also the car is automatic with 3.23 gears, and i plan on some sort of stall and Drag radials.

Re: Bone Stock 94 formula mods
Headers, cai, rockers, higher-stall converter are all a good start. If you are going to spray, it would probably be safe to rebuild the motor considering it is pushing almost 200K. Also, you may have to consider upgrading your trans. and rearend too depending on what power levels you achieve and where your goals are at. It will all add up quick. A search of previous posts can nail the specifics such as brand, cost, performance gain, ect.

Re: Bone Stock 94 formula mods
With millage like that hte valve seals are prolly gona go so as a first mod I would put 1.6 rr's/lt4 springs in it and while its apart replace the valve seals. At leaste then it wont smoke in the future or stop if it already is. It will smoke eventually tho on startup and initial WOT punch. CAI and catback or cutout(cutout will give you best gains and is cheaper). Look at my mods, my car has 100k and is a4 w/ 3.23gears and can beat a stock 05 srt-4 which run like 14.2. I think my car is like a 13.9x or 14.0x but ive never taken it to the track. I really need headers now which will pull everything together then pcm. Honestly tho I think i am done modding my car it just has too much millage and I dont want to put any more work/money into it to only have to rebuild it later on. I wouldnt cam an engine w/ 177k...just my opinion.
