Borla catback install question
#3
Yes I highly recommend a sawz-all. Took about 3 hours to get the metal clamp off the Y-pipe to I-pipe connection with a hand saw and prying. Other than that just regular tools. I put my Borla on using a lift which made it easier though. I recommend one of those too . Simple tools will be all thats required though.

Nice choice...I love my Borla cat-back. Although basic tools is all you will need for the install, be advised that the fit of such an expensive cat-back was poorly designed. Myself, along with other board members that have this cat-back have run into problems with the fit while installing. While installing my Borla, I had to actually cut and weld some of the pipes in order to have it fit the right way. However, there are people who have had no problems at all. So don't be surprised or upset if you find yourself having some issues with the fitting. Best of luck to you and I'm sure you will enjoy it VERY much...this cat-back sounds GREAT!!!!

newbielt1, interesting about problems with the fit while installing a Borla. Can you describe the problem(s) you had? The problem I have seems to be with the Y-pipe (comes down just behind the axle and curves into the muffler and Y's off to the 3-bolt flange). I first hung it from the right hanger bolt, and when I slid the muffler into the Y-pipe outlet, it wants to rotate the Y-pipe and force the Y-pipe inlet to the right against the body. This contact is unacceptable. Even without hanging it from the hanger it doesn't seem right (in other words I don't think the Borla hanger bracket is the problem). My theory is the bent section of the Y-pipe needs to be swept through a larger angle (as it is it is less than a 90-degree bend). (And I have also been shipped two kits, and both seem to be the same.)
Thanks!
Thanks!
