Talking Broke stud and pushrod.. what fun

left school thursday, heard a loud pop and car started to have a bad vibration esp. in 5th and 6th gear... but i drove it the 40 miles home and then a bit more.... noticed dent in the valve cover pulled it off saw a broke rocker stud on exhaust then noticed no pushrods saw one barly and pulled out with my finger.. it was fine... friend found part of the other one with a flash light and magnet... had to pull the intake to find the other half...
guess sh*t happens
what length pushrods everyone else use? what kind?
i been looking at these trick flow pushrods 7.2 length or should I go a little longer?
btw i have/had ARP 3/8 studs, stock 94 harden pushrods
go figure with my luck

I was told my every cam grinder out there that if you install 1.6 rocker arms the valve springs will bind. Thus a spring change was a must.

Why would you get longer pushrods?

AFAIK, the only reason you would change pushrod length is if you had some other changes that made the geometry different from stock. Longer pushrods will change where the tip of the rocker rides on the top of the valve.

How tight in the head?

You might go back and check the others and see how tight they are. I know when I got my heads the studs where only about 15 ft/lbs I went ahead and brought them up to specs. 50-55 ft/lbs.

I would check out the geometry you now have. If it is correct, changing the pushrod length is going to throw it off.

Here is some reference: http://www.compcams.com/information/Products/Pushrods/
