building up stock lt1 help
so I wanna start to plan my build for my LT1 but i want some input from others; maybe some money saving tips or mods that are a waste of money.
what my plan is:
edelbrock lt4 intake or port and polish the stock intake
dart 190cc or 215 cc heads
comp cam 280xfi Duration 280/288 lift .576/.570
K&N CAI
PCMforless tuning
pacesetter LT ORY to magnaflow of gmmg
+ what ever is needed to support these mods engine wise
i hope later to make this a supercharged 383 LT4 (~580 rwhp/ ~540 tq) but for right now pretty much just a beefy LT4.
all ran through a tremec t56
*i already have a thread working on the rear end*
What size injectors should i use? i dont need anything crazy.
my main goal is to get the most hp from a top end swap before starting to s/c and go to a 383.

Re: building up stock lt1 help
Not sure the intake has proven itself to be worth the money. Advanced Inductions has proven they can make killer #'s out of there 200cc stock cnc ported head. Might want to look into that.

The Edelbrock stuff is OVERPRICED - nothing that worked stock casting parts (both intake and heads) can't accomplish. I suggest you look at some other people who have boosted LT1s and see what they've done.

Re: building up stock lt1 help
well today i was at the telegraph cruise which is a mini woodward and i met a guy with a 97 Z and he said he was throwing down 414 hp at the wheels and that was more than he really wanted. So i guess my real question is what can i do to get my lt1 to get to the 350-380 rwhp range? thanks for the tip about the edelbrock parts

Re: building up stock lt1 help
Ported factory heads, matching cam and upgraded valve train, long tube headers, large catback or duals, larger throttle body, larger injectors, and a good PCM tune will get you easilly to 400rwHP. There are a couple of shops that specialize in the LTx heads/cam packages. Take a look at both of them:

Now you have to consider upgrading the drivetrain and the suspension to handle the power.

Re: building up stock lt1 help
People make that kind of power all the time on NA cars. Your looking easy 5-10gs more if you want a supercharger. Honestly this all comes down to money, so how much are you ready to spend. Its not really a good deal to build now and a put a blower on later. You need to set up your cam and motor for a boosted car. So you need to set a number you can spend before you plan on anything
