Bullet muffler to replace resonator???Help
Hey guys,
I heard I can replace my resonator in my loudmouth exhaust with a bullet style muffler. The problem is, I have no idea what type to get or where to get it.
Any advice?
Thanks

Yes you can replace it. Most people use the Dynomax muffler but you can get the Borla XR1 I think its called. I did it with my old loudmouth set up and there was really no difference so I wouldn't waste the money.

Really no difference? Geez...
I would think that putting in a muffler in place of a resonator would do something...
Anyone else have experience?
Which one did you put in?

Borla XR1 makes difference, not too much though. It makes tone much milder and elliminates rasp. Also it allowed me to pass inspection So, in my opinion it's a nice upgrade if you can get it cheap.

One other thing.
What size do I need. I just looked up Borla XR1 and there are several different types and sizes.
Is the Loudmouth 3" in/out? Inexperienced with this...
Thanks

hehe - the Loudmouth came on my car when i bought it. I'm prolly going to get the Hooker 3" aerochamber muffler - inexpensive enough and it looks like it'll do a good (enough) job.

Does the Hooker fit under there? I would probably use this too as an option, however the inlet and outlet dont line up and it would need to in order to just replace the resonator. Which one are you getting? The 3"inlet/3"outlet? They are on sale here for 59....

I can take some pics, if you interested. It's pass through design with some steel structures inside. I still think it's not worth >$100
Is this it?

Where did you find one for $100?

Re: Bullet muffler to replace resonator???Help
I'm not putting mine where the resonator is, i'm putting mine RIGHT after my cat which lies directly below the passenger side seat (or thereabouts; right under that heat shield). The ground clearance won't be stellar, but when i go to put it in, i'll see about moving the whole thing up about an inch or so. Hopefully that'll allow enough 'muffling' so as to make a quieter yet still aggressive sound. I plan to yank the LM resonator all together, but i dunno.
If it won't fit there, i'll put it right after where the LM is right now, just in front of the rear axle. That should be OK too but still, i dunno - we'll have to see
any other ideas?
peace
