Oh, another thought - how would two 22" or two 18" bullet mufflers end-to-end sound? I'm talking about in place of the loudmouth resonator. Would it be pretty decently quiet you think?

Man? Why did you even buy the Loudmouth? two 22" bullets? thats nearly four feet of muffler under your car. I would just try the single bullet muffler in place of the resonator.

How long is the resonator anyways? Anyone know?

Thanks

Re: Bullet muffler to replace resonator???Help

bullets are lighter (and less expensive) than aerochamber - just figured if you had four feet of muffling it'd be pretty quiet afterward - again, i'm going for the sportscar type sound - just not so ridiculously loud. The loudmouth came on my car when i got it - i just never bothered to take it off hehehe.... not sure how long teh LM resonator is tho...

Thats funny... I just looked at your location. I live in Sandy Springs GA. I just moved from Gwinnett. Maybe if we get some bullets to replace these we could meet up and do them at the same time? I am looking for specs on the loudmouth resonator. Seems to me its about 12"s but I am just going from memory...

Do you ever go to any of the local Fbody meets? I know exactly where you are. Thats only about 10-15mins from me. I go up to Gwinnett a couple times a week. I have a car lift and air tools we can use if you want for when we switch out the resonator or whatever other work you want to do.

Re: Bullet muffler to replace resonator???Help

Just take your resonator by Meinke Muffler and tell them you want to replace
it with one of their glass-pack bullet mufflers($39.95). These are straight-thru
design but have directional internal baffling w/fiberglas packing. You want
quiet, have the baffles facing the inlet. Louder, have the baffles facing the
outlet. If they don't have the size you need in-stock they can cut-n-weld
whatever size ends you need.

I just redid my exhaust with a true-duals x-pipe system using two of these
Meinke mufflers. It sounds so much better, and quieter, then the two
Dynomax bullets I had on the car. Now I can cruise around and actually
get on it without arousing police attention from miles around. Sweet!

Actually the lift I can use is in Loganville up highway 78. I am pretty sure there is welding equipment there. I may just try to find a Meineke though since its so cheap.
You know of any?

there's one right up the street from me, but im sure there's one closer to you. go to www.meinekie.com (or however you spell it) and use their store locator on the site. I'd like to get hold of that lift though

Re: Bullet muffler to replace resonator???Help

There is a letter from SLP explaining that resonator is kind of a muffler, you can find it here http://www.blackcamaro.com/images/lmletter.jpg and some info here http://www.blackcamaro.com/loud.htm. I hope this page owner will not kill me for posting links to his pages, since he created them on purpose to help others. This letter was no help to me though.
