which cam
ok so i am replacing my head gaskets and was wondering what would be a good cam for a street car that makes good power and does really kill me on the pump.. i heard the Lt4 hot cam isnt worth the money and the 307 is to much cam for stock heads.. i got full bolt ons.. but dont have money to port the heads yet..

Re: which cam
The hot cam is a great cam. My friends Z28 goes deep into the 12's with a hot cam. When I had my LT1 I had the 305 cam, streetable with no problems at all. Personally I liked it more.
As far as pain at the pump, any cam swap is bring down your mileage noticeably.

Re: which cam
that's the price for power...mileage. think of it as a big fire pit. it's not much to throw a log into it every once in a while, but if you want a bon fire you'll need half a forest...and then some.
to make power means adding more FUEL and air. if you dont have one or the other you wont make power...
talk to cran or comp reps and get a custom grind...or go with a cc305 for some mild power or a 306 for major power. also check out the GM 847 cam...it's similar to the 306 and would keep you in the gm parts for your internals.

Re: which cam
There are alot of good shelf cams on the market right now, the Hotcam being one of them. The CC305,CC306, and CC503 are all very good cams as well. This topic comes up alot as well, a "search" will pull up many posts that will most likely help you determine what cam is going to suit your needs and budget.
