Cam Cleaning Question

i bought an LT4HC and it has very very light surface rust what grit emery paper should i use to clean it or should i not use emery paper and use something else?

I was always told crocus cloth but I like the above opinion better. I had a machine shop polish a crank for me once and I swear they didn't take anything off it but it came back shiny.

00 Steel Wool. You can get some at THD or Lowes. Emory cloth, unless SUPER fine will leave itty bitty scratches. I heard that machine shops a lot of the time polish with cork, but don't quote me on that one, just something I heard.
