cam degreeing question

i'm building an lt1 for my iroc
right now i'm using the stock cam, i'm going to upgrade later
i'm degreeing the stock cam
and these are the measurements i got
intake 105 atdc
(65 @ .050 and 145 @ .050)
exhaust 115 btdc
(75 @ .050 and 155@ .050)

that means my lobe seperation is 110 degrees
and is it advanced or retarded 10 degrees?
10 degrees sounds like alot, did i jump a tooth?

Re: cam degreeing question

thank you for a reply
i was looking at it again today
just for kicks i jumped a tooth in either direction which gave me lobe cent

that 65 degrees is what i got when the dial indicator on the lifter was .050 before lobe centerline 145 degrees is what i got .050 after lobe centerline, the average of that tells me that the lobe centerline is at 105degrees ATDC, which seems just fine, which is why i havent given a second thought about the 65 number

the stock cam is from the lt1 that came out of the roadmaster, so its not an h.o. cam, not the came that came in the camaros/firebirds or vettes

what is LSA? and how do i establish it correctly

Re: cam degreeing question

the only thing i'm calculating is the intake centerline and exhaust centerline

i zero'd my dial indicator when the lifter reached its highest point which is the peak of the cam lobe
in an effort to be acurate i took the degree readings on the degree wheel when the lifter was .050" away from peak lift in either direction and averaged the two readings
forget the 65 and 145

i got my intake centerline at 105 ATDC
and i got my exhaust centerline at 115 BTDC
is this ok?

as for the specs you wrote on the b-body cam, what do those numbers refer too? opening and closing of intake and exhaust?

Re: cam degreeing question

Yes those are opening/closing numbers.
Don't pay any mind 'cause A/G likes to make everything a mystery and seem difficult.

I don't think the cam is on a 110.
Ya may need to check for TDC again and make sure it is correct then follow your instructions or go to Crane or Comp's site and read there instructions about cam degreeing. That's too much typing for me.
