cam hitting rods......

I just installed my cam into my 383 shortblock, and the lobes are hitting the rods.......
does this mean the cam is too big?

what are my options?

I am new to this.....

You need a small base-circle camshaft to work with your rotating assembly.

what rods?

sometimes you can grind the rod a little. If not then go to the small base cam

They usually hit on more than one rod.
Do a Google I think 2-7 are 2 of them.

The cam is physically smaller. This gives the rods enough room to swing.
A .900-.950 base circle should be plenty.

NO/yes
Spects are the same on the cam, Ya will have to get longer push rods which ya probably were going to need some new ones anyway.

Silly question. Did you double check your cam timing during the install?

this will work

i think it hits on 2 4 5 and 7 ... But you should check all to be sure. Doesn't take much grinding for it to clear. make sure you have about .050 clearance.
