Cam for LT1?

Re: Cam for LT1?
Anything at all done to the heads? 1.6 Rockers? Valve Springs? What exactly is it you are looking to do. You'll get a whole lot of people telling you that my setup isn't very good. I have a GM847 with 1.6RR (.575 .595 lift 112LSA) Stock heads and Patriot Gold valve springs. So far it's been good for a 12.6 @ 114 in the quarter.
Obviously that setup isn't for everyone, and it's temporary until I get the heads done. If you're looking to keep it streetable, I wouldn't go with anything as big as mine...the cam surge is terrible trying to idle through a parking lot
As soon as you let us know what you're looking for, we might be able to give you some suggestions.

Re: Cam for LT1?
a cam that would be good for your current set up, great for future performance enhancements and one that would be durablefor years to come .....? i would call comp cams up for a custom grind. there custom grinds are only like 20 dollars more then there off the shelf ones. this cam would give you a big boost im performance. i am going to give two sets of numbers on some specs, but thats just because i dont know whether you are going to tune the PCM or not and or port the heads. if you tune and fully port the heads yourself....then here is the cam for you ( the second one is for right now....)
single pattern
#1- 262/262 adv _
220/220 dur @.050
.550/.550
lobe sep. 108 degree's
int lobe centerline 110
this cam should give you some snappy throttle response wiith a big jump in tq in a wider rpm band, along with a 5 minimum horsepower. idle will be with a slight lope just enough for someone to know that motors been "tinkered" with. . . now for the way its at right now and
256int/262exh
.216int/222
.505int /.525exh
lobe seperation 111
intake lobe centerline 108

Re: Cam for LT1?
This thread is over a couple months old, but I would advise against calling comp cams tech line. They are the ones who told the guy I bought my car off of that the xfi292 would be just right for his engine with stock heads and stock displacement. I have a thread on here with the end result if u wanna see it. If you want a custom cam, call the people that really know what to use in the LT1....ie. AI or LE to name a couple.

Re: Cam for LT1?
Get a custom grind and tell them your mods and exactly what you want. I have an Ed Curtis cam, but there are other options out there. Why buy a generic cam when you can get exactly what you want?
