Cam surge and random misfire code
Can cam surge cause a random misfire code?
The CPS simply monitors crank acceleration as far as I know. After doing heads and cam I have cam surge under 2k and also a periodic randome misfire code however, I can not detect a misfire. The car runs great, even when I bog it down in 6th and give it WOT I cannot dectect a misfire (bucking/chugging). This test has always worked well to test the ignition.
So I was wondering if the eradic surging of the engine could trick the CPS into thinking there is a misfire. Anybody ever experience this?
BTW, this is a 97 OBD2 M6 car with an XE 230/236 (many other mods), a mail order tune, and I dont have any logging capability yet.

I have seen the random misfire code on several cammed cars I did programming for, so I just disable it when a customer is getting one.
I don't know who did your tuning, but cam surge is not always easy to fix remotely so you might want to log your car and see exactly at what RPMs and MAP KPAs it's doing it, then have the tuner update the tuning accordingly.
