Camshaft Install - LT1

How tough is it, REALLY, to do a cam swap on an LT1? What are the steps? Does the motor have to come down? I'd just love not to pay crazy money to have someone put it in.

Re: Camshaft Install - LT1

www.shbox.com has a great write-up on how to do it. Having done several of them now, it's about a 4 out of 10 for me, but the first time around was closer to an 8. It can be a bit intimidating at first, but if you follow everything to a T and have a GOOD COMPLETE set of tools (VERY important) it's nothing you shouldn't be able to handle.

if you're too lazy to search the hundreds of posts that ask the same question, it's probably not for you

It's not hard, you just have to pay attention to what you are doing. It can be done in the car if you remove the radiator/ac.

It was easy. Just make sure you get the correct setup for pulling the balancer and putting it back on. That's the "hard" part.
