Can a 95's opti be used on a 94?

My advice is to see how much $$ you can get for that opti and just go with a delteq or ltcc. There's too much stuff to change to even worry about it now that there are better things on the market. Someone with a 95-97 may offer you some decent cash for it if it's in good condition and theirs is on the way out.

yah, first of all your dowel pin on your existing camshaft will be too short to drive the newer style opti (our 94s are gear driven...not driven off the cam dowel)
. So that would need to be changed. Then you also need some additional hoses (the 95+ are vented and have a tube that runs from the intake manifold and to the intake elbow).

A lot more than that needs to be done to convert to a vented opti.

Sounds like a good price, yeah you are going to need a diferent cam and timing cover, might need a new timing chain kit as well. Most people convert to the vented opti when they are changing cams. Unless your water pump takes a dump on the unvented opti or you drive through 2 feet of water they seem to be as good. You just get the added bonus that if it gets wet the vent will help dry it out. Unless you are planning on changing the cam I would just get the 94 opti. I know they are more expensive but will be less money less work. good luck , I would check out shoebox's site out he's got a lot of great info into what you would be getting yourself into on converting to vented opti
