At the Track my 275/40/17 's will bite like a wrinklewall stalling it to 2500 rpms if theres some VHT after about a 10 second burn out

On my old setup that made 400rwhp i had 4.10s and could bake any tires through 3rd gear. I switched to 315/35/17 nitto 555s and could hook first at WOT off the line with no spin at all

I have a feeling it had something to do with 275/40's on 10 inch wide 17's.

My Nitto 555R DR's are useless in 1st gear. Maybe they'll get better when the weather warms up If I heat em up, they hook pretty good, but just driving down the road going WOT at about 20 mph sends the tires in smoke. I think its just too cold.

Yea, weather has alot to do with it as well. I can tell a difference between traction in night(40ish) and day(75ish). The temp of the road really effects traction more than I ever though.

I have P7000 SS Pirelli's and when they are warmed up they hoook great. Although im not pushing as much power as some of you. I used to have goodyear's and they hook alot better than they did and they hook alot better than my friends kumhos.

OK, I narrowed it down to Gforce KDW or Nitto 555r, but if I get the Nittos I don't know what to put up front....

Just in case you weren't think about treadwear...remember. In order to even think about hooking with nittos.....it takes a long burnout....that is from what Nitto Tire said about the NT555R on TNN. They won't last long like that.

Ya... I don't really like doing big burnouts, so I might as well get the Gforce kdw.... unless anyone knows a street tire that will grip better without needing to be heated...

It's called a BFG drag radial. Spin em over...no excessive burnout to heat the tire like nittos require. They just don't last long due to the soft compound.

Ok, I wasnt considering the BFG DR's because he wanted them to last at least 10k miles. Mine only held up for about 7k with only 2 trips to the track. They are sticky though.

I would definitely be done with it and set on getting GForce KD tires IF I could find them in 16" size for the stock rims, but I don't think they make them in 16". Can someone please prove me wrong?

Thanks!
